Want to learn to dance?

Do you feel the need to get out and move? Want to meet lots of fun new people? Dancing is a great way to do both of these things.

We are trying a new experiment in the Lima area. There are several places to learn to dance in the area, but we’re rather lacking in the social setting to use our newly acquired skills. To fix this problem in one fell swoop we have created several wonderful opportunities to learn, practice, and socialize.

We are hosting dance events at various locations around the Lima area. At each of these events there will be a similar order of ‘how things work’. We’ll have a start time (say… around 6 pm). Lots of these events are at bars or restaurants. Use this time to grab a drink or snack and start socializing with your fellow dancers! We will move on to an instructional portion where we go over some of the basic salsa moves and add something new. We have two professional instructors to help us with this portion. Following the instructional period we’ll set everyone free to dance!

Things to know:

  • There is a cover charge (this helps cover the instructors fees and DJ fees)
  • We divide into ‘leads’ and ‘follows’. Leads are traditionally men, but do not have to be (in fact, we’ve had the women outnumber the men greatly at each of our events so far).
  • Wear something that is comfortable to move in and shoes that are easy to move around in. Sometimes the feet start moving quickly, so shoes that stay attached are a good idea.
